New Delhi: Demanding resignation of Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over the Bharatpur riots, BJP on Sunday accused him of covering up crimes in the state.

"While Prime Minister is covering up corruption at the centre, Gehlot is covering up crime in the state," BJP spokesperson Shanawaj Hussain told reporters here.

He alleged there were rising incidents of atrocities on women and minority community and a "jungle raj" prevailed in the state.

"Law and order machinery has completely failed. No government exists there. Why has the chief minister not resigned yet?," the BJP MP asked

"Had he acted on time he would have saved many lives," he said.

11 people were killed in police firing during communal riots in Gopalgarh in Bharatput on September 14.

"The incident has exposed the so called secular Congress government in the state as it did nothing to prevent the incident. Gopalgarh will be the Waterloo for the Congress," Hussain said.

He said after the visit of the BJP delegation on September 17 to Gopalgarh, Gehlot visited the site.

Taking on the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, he said, "Rahul did a roadshow in Gopalgarh by going there in two motorcycles. He did not meet any victims there."

Referring to Bhanwari Devi case, Hussain said, "Two ministers have already resigned and more are to follow. Inquiry should be held whether the Chief Minister knew about it or not."

The BJP also condemned the attack on media in the state. "We condemn the attack on ETV office in Rajasthan."

Meanwhile, the BJP demanded action the culprits involved in the alleged harassment of a girl student in the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.

"We will meet the Union Health Minister, National Commission for Women and Delhi Commission for Women to seek justice for the victim," said BJP national secretary Vani Tripathi.

She alleged that a third year nursing student was abused and harassed in the college on Friday.
