CBI seeks custody of suspended IPS officer

Jaipur: Suspended IPS officer A K Jain, an accused in Dara Singh fake encounter case, was on Tuesday produced before a local court here, with the CBI seeking his
custody for two weeks for interrogating him.

The special CBI court reserved its decision for tomorrow and extended Jain`s judicial custody after his counsel opposed the agency`s plea.
He will now be produced in the court tomorrow. A 1978 batch IPS officer Jain, who was absconding for the last several months, and surrendered before the court here
yesterday.

In the jail, security has been provided to him as per his request to the court through an application submitted during his surrender yesterday.

59-year-old Jain was absconding since the CBI filed a charge sheet against him last June accusing him of masterminding the fake encounter of Dara Singh which took
place on October 23 2006, in Ranjendra Prasad Nagar area on the outskirts of the city when Jain was heading the Special Operations Group of Rajasthan Police.

He was suspended from the post of Additional Director General (Home Guards) on June 3 last year. He was absent from duty since May 16, 2011.
