Bundi: Notwithstanding the tight
vigil, about seven child marriages were allegedly conducted in
the district on Akshaya Tritaya, prompting authorities to
order an inquiry.
District authorities claimed that they thwarted many
such marriages involving under-aged couples that are
traditionally performed on the festival in the state.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Hindoli block,
Shoukat Ali said an inquiry has been ordered into alleged six
child marriages during a mass wedding ceremony of Mali
community at Amartiya village.
An under-age couple was also wedded at Nandgaunv in
Meena community, he said.
"A report in this matter has been sent to concerned
police station against the parents of the children.
"Hansabai, daughter of Ramnarayan of NandGaun and
Bhagota, son of Ramchandra of Vijaygarh village, both under-
aged were married on Akha Teej," he said.

said the child marriages were reported at Amartiya village and
an inquiry is on.
District administration had been maintaining a tight
vigil to thwart such marriages on Akshaya Tritaya or Akha Teej
festival and a prolonged awareness campaign was carried out by
Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) department.
Officials said child marriages in Nainwa and
Keshoraipatan subdivisions were prevented by administration
through proactive step.
Officials said SDM, Nainwa, Sohanlal Kayal prevented
the illegal marriage of Sugna, sister of Shyojilal, a resident
of ward No 15, on Friday.
Station House Officer (SHO), Kalishchand Jaat, Nainwa
police station said petitions were also filed in the local
court against Satayanarayan of Baratopa village and Chittar
and Ramkishan of Topa village to prevent the marriage of
The court has issued notices to the accused, he said.
A child marriage was also prevented in Arneta village
of Keshavraipatan village where Shankerlal Meghwal was going
to get his under-aged daughter married on Akha Teej.
SHO, Keshoraipatan police station, said that a
petition was filed in the local court in this matter and an
ASI was deployed at the house of the accused.
