Elections to 126 local bodies in Rajasthan will be held on August 18 next.

A notification to this effect would be issued on
August one, state chief election commissioner A K Pandey
told reporters here today.

Polling will be held to elect members to one municipal
corporation, two municipal council and 123 municipal boards.
Filing of nomination papers would end on August six and
scrutiny of papers will be done the next day. The deadline for
withdrawal of nomination is August nine.

Polling will be held on August 18 and counting of
votes on August 20, he said.

Vice-chairmen and deputy-mayor polls will be held on
August 21, he said.

Over 35,000 EVMs would be used for the polls in 3,096
wards, he said.

Over 34.69 lakh electorates would cast their votes, he
said.

Altogether 4,142 polling stations would be set up.

With today`s announcement, the election code of
conduct comes into force with immediate effect, he said.

Elections to three panchayat samitis of Bassi,
Manoharpur and Thalwar would be held simultaneously on August
18, Pandey said.
