Cold wave returns to Rajasthan

After some days of respite from chilly weather, cold winds revived in Rajasthan with Churu freezing at 3.8 degrees, a MeT report said.

Jaipur: After some days of respite from chilly weather, cold winds revived in Rajasthan with Churu freezing at 3.8 degrees, a MeT report said.

The mercury further dipped by one to three degrees at some places in the state in the last 24 hours due to influx of cold winds.

Churu was the coldest in the state with its low settling 6 degrees below the normal last night.

Due to fog in neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, five trains were running late from 1:20 hours to 4:25 hours.

Sriganganagar-Rishikesh train was rescheduled, a North Western Railway spokesman said.

Howrah-Jodhpur/Bikaner traun was delayed by 4:20 hours while Jammu Tawi-Ahmedabad by 3:25 hrs.

On hills, Mount Abu was the coldest place with the minimum temperature settling at 4.2 degrees.

Pilani recorded a minimum of 5.9 degree Celsius followed by Bikaner 7.8, Udaipur 8.4, Jaipur 8.2, Jodhpur 9.6, Sriganganagar 9.8, Ajmer 9.9, and Kota 10.5 degree Celsius.

As per a MeT forecast, the mercury will further dip during the night in the next 24 hours.
