Complaint lodged for filing FIR against Arundhati Roy

Jaipur: Some advocates have lodged a
complaint at a police station here as to why no FIR was registered by police against writer and activist Arundhati Roy for her comments on Kashmir.

Roy had said at a seminar in New Delhi last month that
Kashmir was never an integral part of India, which had drawn
criticism by some sections of society who demanded that the
activist be booked with sedition charges.
However, police have not registered any FIR against Roy,
maintaining that any decision in the matter will be taken
after examining all the legal aspects and its jurisdiction.

"What Arundhati has said is anti-national and seditious
so we demand that an FIR be lodged against Roy under sections
124-A, 153-A, 153-B, 500 of IPC," Laxman Singh, one of the
advocates, said.
Kushal Singh, SHO Ashok Nagar police station, said that
the legal aspects are being examined and decision on the
complaint will be taken after that.
