Jaipur: Two dacoits carrying cash rewards on their heads were on Monday shot dead by police in an encounter in Rajasthan`s Karauli district.
A police official was also injured in the incident which occured in Basai Daang area where the two dacoits were hiding in a farm this morning, SP Karauli Rahul Prakash said to sources.
The deceased were identified as Rajendra Singh and Ramakhtyar Singh, carrying cash rewards of Rs 84,000 and 2,000 on their heads respectively.
They were operating in Agra, Mathura and parts of Madhya Pradesh and were wanted in several criminal cases, he said.
Two guns and 50 live rounds were recovered from the spot where they were killed. The Assistant sub-inspector who received bullet injury is being treated, he added.
