Jaipur: Suspended IPS officer A Ponnuchami, arrested in May last year in Dara Singh fake encounter killing case, was today denied bail by a Rajathsan court.

District and Sessions Judge, Jaipur, V K Mathur dismissed the bail plea Ponnuchami, who was the SP in Special Operation Group when its personnel shot dead Dara Singh, a member of liquor mafia, allegedly in a fake encounter in 2006.

He was the first accused to be arrested on May 16 last year.

Ponnuchami is the first accused to apply for bail after BJP MLA Rajendra Singh Rathore, who was chargesheeted by CBI, was discharged by trial court in the matter in May.

After Rathore's discharge, the accused contended that there was no motive for the alleged murder as the CBI had submitted that it was animosity of Rathore with Dara that lead to the fake encounter.
