Dholpur murder case: BSP MLA Kushwaha surrenders before police
Bahujan Samaj Party MLA BL Kushwaha on Monday surrendered before the Rajasthan police here, in connection with a murder case, a senior official said.
Jaipur: Bahujan Samaj Party MLA BL Kushwaha on Monday surrendered before the Rajasthan police here, in connection with a murder case, a senior official said.
The MLA surrendered before the investigation officer at the police headquarters (PHQ).
"Kushwaha surrendered before the police in police headquarters, he is being interrogated, and if required he will be arrested", Director-General of Police Omendra Bhardwaj told reporters here.
Earlier in the afternoon, addressing hundreds of party workers outside MLA flats here before marching to PHQ, Kushwaha, however said he was "deliberately implicated" in the murder case of one Naresh, hailing from his Dholpur constituency in 2012, by the ruling BJP government despite his name not figuring in the FIR.
"Neither my name figured in the FIR related to alleged murder of one Naresh, resident of Jheel ka Pura under Dhimari Police station in Dholpur on December 27, 2012 nor I am trying to abscond. FIR carries no name as an accused. In last two years I appeared before the IGP Bharatpur range for every query and recording of statement. Recently my anticipatory bail was rejected by the High Court, hence I will surrender", Kushwaha said in his address.
On July 5 the Rajasthan High Court had dismissed the anticipatory bail application of the Dholpur MLA.
A single bench of Justice K S Aluwali had rejected his bail plea on the ground that he was "charged with a heinous crime" following which he could not be granted anticipatory bail.
Since the case is related to an elected representative, the state CID-Crime Branch is investigating it.
The Dholpur MLA alleged his implication in the case, a conspiracy of the BJP, but the rival party has rejected the charge.
"This is BJP's conspiracy to stop rise of BSP MLAs which are three in numbers in the Rajasthan House", he alleged.
Reacting on Kushwaha's allegations on the ruling state government, Rajasthan BJP President Ashok Parnami said his party "never initiated" any action against anyone at its own, specially in crime matters.
BJP has "nothing to do with this case nor with the MLA Kushwaha's personal matters", Parnami said, claiming the action by police was taken based on facts and merits.
"I am going with my supporters to surrender before the Additional SP Sarita Singh in the police headquarters so that they can make any query. I know they can arrest me also for which I am ready", " Kushwaha earlier said at the rally.
Madhya Pradesh police was looking for the MLA since January 21 for his alleged involvement in a chit fund fraud case.
