Jaipur: Asking the diaspora to contribute more to build a modern India, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday said the government would encourage them and lauded the influence and impact of the "global Indian".

Addressing the 10th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas here, Singh said this decade has been marked by a visible accretion in the influence and impact of the global Indian across the world.

"We believe that the Indian diaspora has much more to contribute to the building of modern India. We propose to facilitate, encourage and promote this engagement," he told Persons of Indian Origin and Non-Resident Indians here.

Singh said India has witnessed a steady growth in the number of overseas Indians, levels of prosperity and their skills.

He also listed the number of initiatives undertaken by the government like voting rights for NRIs and the new Pension and Insurance Scheme among others.

Singh said the "global Indian" is a symbol of the diversity of our ancient land.

"Your individual prosperity and personal achievement are a symbol of what a diverse people like us can achieve," he said.

It is correctly said by PM ``Diaspora has to give more to build modren India``. PM must know the fact that Diaspora`s properties are being sold by the system fraudsters in their absence and the Govt is a silent spectator on the complaints of NRIs.
