Five arrested for attacking Raj minister with chilly powder

Five persons have been arrested for allegedly attacking a Rajasthan minister by hurling chilly powder at him during a marriage function in the state`s Jhunjhunu district, police said.

powder at him during a marriage function in the state`s
Jhunjhunu district, police said on Friday.

Minister of State for Health Rajkumar Sharma had gone
to attend a marriage function in Dumra village in Nawalgarh
town, 273 kms from here, when a group of persons led by local
village head Budhram suddenly hurled chilly power at the
minister last night.

"The main accused, Budhram, is absconding, but we
arrested his brother Sahi Ram and four others namely Vijay,
Sanjeev Kumar, Jagdish and Bhagirath late last night who were
involved in the crime," Additional Superintended of Police
Bihari Lal said.

He said that one of the attackers, who was in female
attire, threw chilly power into the eyes of the minister and a
sub-inspector.

The accused tried to escape in a vehicle but they
were soon nabbed, another official said.

Political rivalry between two group, one led by
Budhram and the other of former Sarpanch Ram Gopal who is
close of the minister, was said to be motive behind the crime,
the officer said.
