Jodhpur: The Rajasthan High Court today
expressed its displeasure over the "directionless" probe in
the Bhanwari Devi missing case and pulled up the investigation
The court, while hearing the habeas corpus filed by
Devi`s husband Amarchand, ordered the Inspector General of
Police (Jodhpur Range) to appear before it on September 26
with the progress report on the probe.
Amarchand had filed a habeas corpus in the high court on
Monday, 19 days after 36-year-old Devi, who was posted as
auxiliary nurse midwife at a sub-centre in Jaliwada village in
the district, went missing.
Admitting the writ, the bench of justices Sangeet Lodha
and C M Totla had issued the notices to the Home Secretary and
police (IGP and SP).
"The court expressed its dissent with the police
investigation in the matter terming it as directionless,"
Sandeep Shah, counsel of the petitioner, said.
