Jaipur: The Rajasthan govt has decided to
formulate a comprehensive plan to make housing facility
available to over 50 lakh labourers engaged in Beedi
manufacturing across the state.
The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by Principle
Secretary-Labour department Manoharkant today, in which
officials discussed various schemes for the labourers.
"There are around 50 lakh labourers engaged in Beedi
manufacturing across the state and their financial status is
very weak. We need to uplift their status. We will write a
letter to the union government to make housing facility
available to the labourers," he said.
"The labourers will be provided with detailed information
of various welfare schemes, initiated for Beedi labourers by
the union and the state government, during the revenue
campaign to be held from tomorrow all over Rajathan.
"They will also be issued health cards during the
campaign," he said.
