Bundi: IPS Tejraj Singh Kharodiya will on Monday assume additional charge of Bundi Superintendent of Police, after Pankaj Choudhary was sent on Awaiting Posting Order for allegedly being "careless and inactive" when tension erupted in Nainwa town and Khanpura village of the district.

The order came on Saturday from the state government after SP Choudhary was accused of "inaction and carelessness in immediately rushing to the spot even after receiving information that communal tension had erupted in Khanpura village and in Nainwa town of the district on September 12," Director General of Police (DGP) Omendra Bhardwaj told reporters.

Kharodiya, who is Additional Police Commissioner of Jodhpur police commissionerate, has been posted as the new SP of Bundi and will assume charge today.

Curfew was clamped in Nainwa town and Khanpura village for an indefinite period on early morning of September 13 after tension erupted, but was lifted after eight days on Saturday.

Station House Officer (SHO), Nainwa police station Badan Singh, constables Vinod, Kelash, Jitendra and Nirmal were removed and sent to police line while revenue officer of Nainwa sub division Bashir Mohammed was also put on APO.

The DGP said Choudhary has been asked for an explanation.
