Jaipur: A minor girl was allegedly raped by
an acquaintance in Rajasthan's Chittorgarh district following
which she attempted suicide by setting herself afire, police
said today.
The 15-year-old girl sustained about 60 per cent burn
injuries last night and was hospitalised in Udaipur where her
condition was stated to be stable.
"Last evening, Bhairu, an acquaintance of the victim,
called the girl to a hostel close to her aunt's home where she
was staying. When she reached the place, he raped her," Deputy
Superintendent of police (Bari Sadri) Satya Narayan, said.
"After returning home, she set herself afire," he said,
adding her aunt put out the fire and informed the police.
The boy has been arrested, Narayan said.
