Alwar: Model and actress Shweta Menon,
charged with insulting the tricolour at a fashion show here,
on Wednesday appeared before a local court to complete the
formalities for securing an anticipatory bail in the case.
Menon appeared before the Judicial Magistrate-I to
furnish her bail bond as ordered by the Rajasthan High Court
which granted her anticipatory bail in the case on January 13,
her lawyer said.
The model had moved an application in the High Court on
January 4 after the local court rejected her anticipatory bail
plea on December 14 in the case, he said.
"The High court granted her bail on January 13 last on
condition that she will surrender in the trial court and
present personal bond and bail, so she today appeared before
the local court to complete the procedure," he said.
Menon and the local Director of National Institute of
Fashion Design (NIFD) Ashish Gupta were booked after the model
allegedly walked down the ramp wrapping the tricolour around
herself at a fashion show held by the institute here in 2004.
Police had submitted chargesheet against Gupta but
investigation against Menon was pending, the advocate said.
