Jaipur: Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh on Wednesday said the children of poor families should not only be given education but also be made competent enough so that they could take up jobs.
"This would be a true service to the nation, if poor children are taught and made competent for jobs," he said, after releasing a UNICEF report titled "Re-imagine the future: Innovation for every child-2015".
He said it would create a positive atmosphere.
"More you educate children the better would be future of the nation, and the country would also progress and develop," Singh said.
Terming poverty as a "curse" on life, he advised the UNICEF officials that every poor child should not only be educated but also made well-cultured for the society.
