Opposition BJP gear up for Budget Session in Rajasthan
The Session is scheduled to begin from February 15 with the Governor`s address.
Jaipur: The Rajasthan Legislative
Assembly is likely to witness a stormy Budget Session with
Opposition party BJP planning to corner the state government
on several issues, including recent hooch tragedies in Pali
and Jodhpur which claimed several lives.
The Session is scheduled to begin from February 15
with the Governor`s address.
The Opposition BJP made its intension clear that it
will demand a long session to debate on all the issues of
importance and try to push the government to the corner on
"We want a long session and will corner the government
demanding action against some ministers, including Primary
Education Minister Bhanwar Lal Meghwal, who made indecent
comments against para-medical staff during a public function.
Also on the list is Babu Lal Naagar against whom ACB is
investigating corruption charges," Deputy Leader of Opposition
Ghanshyam Tiwari said.
"The state government took immediate action against
the minister, who commented on President, but what about
others who have been using such language against common people
openly. We will seek a reply on it," he said.
Hooch tragedies which claimed several lives, poor
performance of the government, unemployment are among other
issues we will raise in the Assembly, he said.
However, the uncertainty over the Leader of Opposition
prevails ahead of the Session with the BJP leadership not
appointing a new face after the resignation of Vasundhara
Raje had submitted her resignation last year to the
Assembly Speaker DS Shekhawat.
On the issue of appointment of Leader of Opposition,
BJP state president Arun Chaturvedi said, "No new face has
been appointed as the Leader of Opposition so far and it may
take some more time."
Chief Whip (Congress) in the Assembly, Virendra
Beniwal said the first meeting of Business Advisory Committee
(BAC) will take place on February 15 after the Session and
would decide the agenda and days of sitting.
The date of Budget presentation for the financial year
2011-12 would also be decided by the BAC, he said.
