The post offices in Jaipur remained open on Sunday as a mark of respect to late former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

Jaipur: The post offices in Jaipur remained open on Sunday as a mark of respect to late former president Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

"Our superiors have said that true tribute to former president would be by working on a Sunday. He had expressed a wish that the offices should do an extra day's work...... so we do not have any objection to it," said Nathu Singh, one of the post office employees.

"We want send a message to the world that we want to pay tribute to the former president by showing true dedication to our work," said Prabhati Lal Meena, another post office employee.

Dr Kalam, 83, passed away on Monday in Shillong after suffering a massive cardiac arrest while delivering a lecture to students at the Indian Institute of Management.
