Jaipur: BJP o Tuesday accused the Congress
government in Rajasthan of extending undue benefit to a ruling
party MLA by giving permission to transfer government land in
the name of the legislator`s firm in Bhilwara.

BJP national secretary Kirit Somaiya claimed that the move
caused a loss of around Rs 750 crore to the state exchequer.

He alleged that the state government despite repeated
objections by Bhilwara district collector approved the sale of
over 60 bigha land, already allotted to a firm on a 99-year
lease in 1966, to another firm of which the Congress MLA is
the director.

Somaiya alleged that the land was sold for Rs 100 crore
though its market value was over Rs 750 crore.

"The district collector in his reports had apprised the
government that it was a government land and would cause loss
if it was transferred to the company on normal rates. The
collector had suggested that it will be beneficial if the
government takes back the land," he said, referring to several
documents obtained through RTI.

Somaiya released the documents obtained through RTI and
demanded judicial probe into the matter.
