Jaipur: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday visited Madrampura in the district to meet families affected by the heavy rains in Rajasthan.
Gandhi, who was in Barmer earlier in the day, interacted with the locals and asked for feedback about relief activities in the wake of the downpour that has caused havoc in the area.
Before leaving, Gandhi told reporters that she has observed that rehabilitation was the main problem.
"I spoke to people... They said that rehabilitation was their problem now. It will be looked after," she said.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Union Ministers C P Joshi, Mukul Wasnik and Sachin Pilot were among those present during the meeting.
When the Congress leader was returning from Madrampura, a few locals blocked the road while shouting slogans alleging that the Jaipur Development Authority had demolished their houses and had not given any compensation.
They complained to Gandhi that genuine victims affected by the heavy rains had allegedly not been allowed to meet her.
The police said this was not a security breach and no action had been taken against the locals.
