Rajasthan: Criminal, two policemen killed in encounter

A hardcore criminal and two policemen were killed and three cops injured when an armed group of men attacked the security personnel while they were on their way to Kota to produce the criminal in a court, officials said.

policemen were killed and three cops injured when an armed
group of men attacked the security personnel while they were
on their way to Kota to produce the criminal in a court,
officials said.
The incident occurred late last night in Kesarpura
area when the assailants, who were in two cars, hit the police
car and when the security personnel alighted they opened fire
at them.

The five-member police team led by sub-inspector
Bhairo Lal was taking the criminal Bhanu Pratap Singh to Kota
from Udaipur jail.

"When the police van stopped and security men
alighted, the accused opened fire at them killing the criminal
Bhanu Pratap and a constable Prakash on the spot and injuring
others," they said.
Following information, local police rushed to the
spot and shifted the victims to a nearby hospital where
another constable Sohan succumbed to his injuries.

"We have recovered a car from near Rajasthan-MP
border and a search is on to nab the accused," SP Bhilwara
Umesh Dutta said.
