Jaipur: Twelve policemen, including the SHO of Parbatsar Police Station in Nagaur district, were suspended for "dereliction" of duty after three criminals, including gangster Anandpal Singh, escaped from their custody in Nagaur.

"SHO Parbatsar Police Station (Nagaur) Anil Pandey and 11 constables were suspended last night. They were found responsible for Thursday's incident in which three criminals managed to escape from police custody while returning from Didwana court to Ajmer Jail," IG Ajmer Malini Agrawal told PTI.

She said that all the 12 police personnel were engaged in the duty of escorting the criminals on Thursday and their dereliction led to the incident.

Dreaded criminal Anandpal Singh along with his two aides Subhas Moond and Srivallabh managed to escape after unidentified masked men opened fire at the police van in Parbatsar area of Nagaur.

"We are making all efforts to locate the criminals," she added.
