Rajasthan government has asked the district collectors and SPs to prevent child marriages on the auspicious days of Akshaya Tritiya and Pipal Purnima.

Jaipur: Rajasthan government has asked the district collectors and SPs to prevent child marriages on the auspicious days of Akshaya Tritiya and Pipal Purnima.

Additional Chief Secretary (Home) A Mukhopadhyay has written a letter to the collectors and SPs asking them to form district, block and village level groups to stop child marriages on Akshaya Tritiya on April 21 and Pipal Purnima on May 4, a release said today.

He also asked them to seek participation of social activists, public representatives and employees of education, health, revenue, women and child development, social justice and empowerment departments to create an environment against the tradition.

Child marriages are rampant in parts of the state which mostly takes place on these two auspicious days.
