Over 71 lakh students of government schools across Rajasthan heard Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address and subsequent interaction on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

Jaipur: Over 71 lakh students of government schools across Rajasthan heard Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address and subsequent interaction on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

Around 71,45,521 students in 79,462 schools watched and listened to Prime Minister's Teachers' Day speech through TV, radio or online yesterday, a report compiled by the state education department said.

"Arrangement of television, radio sets and projectors for live presentation were made in all government schools in the state yesterday. Several students were also shown the programme on YouTube," Principal Secretary Education Pawan Goyal said.

Meanwhile, in Jaisalmer, Shafi Khan Samma, a Madrasa owner has alleged that district administration did not inform and make arrangements for Madrasa students to watch the programme.

Several Madrasas could not make arrangements due to laxity of the district administration, he said.

However, district collector NL Meena rejected the allegations saying, over 1 lakh students watched the programme across the district and all the educational institutions had been well-informed about it.

"I do not have any such complaint from Madrasa. We had informed all the institutions about the programme," the collector said.
