Rajasthan panchayat elections: 45% polling recorded in final phase

Over 45 per cent voting was recorded till 4 PM on Friday in the third and the last phase of Panchayat polls in Rajasthan.

Jaipur: Over 45 per cent voting was recorded till 4 PM on Friday in the third and the last phase of Panchayat polls in Rajasthan.

A maximum of 65 per cent voting was recorded in Hanumangarh, while Bikaner recorded 32 per cent of voter turn out, according to state election commission.

Polling for Zila Parishad members and Panchayat Samiti members under third phase of Panchayat elections commenced in the morning today amid tight security arrangements.

Under the third and the last phase, 254 seats of Zila Parishad went to polls.

Of them, candidates on five seats have been elected unopposed and polling for remaining 249 seats is being held today.

A total of 702 candidates are in the fray for 249 seats of Zila Parishad members.

Similarly, polling to elect Panchayat Samiti members on 1,743 seats was also held today.

32 Panchayat Samiti members have already been elected unopposed.

4,613 candidates are contesting election on 1,743 seats of Panchayat Samiti Member, according to chief election officer Satyaprakash Buswala.
