Raje meets Panagariya; discusses issues related to PDS, MNREGA

 Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Wednesday discussed various issues related to agriculture, Public distribution system (PDS), education and MNREGA with Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Arvind Panagariya.

Raje informed Panagariya about the state government's initiative to convert 5,000 Fair Price Shops as Annapurna Bhandars to bring drastic changes in PDS.

In the meeting, Raje said the move will impact the aspirations of the poor people.

Panagaria admired the reform measures initiated by the state government in various sectors, a release said.

"Flexibility should be given to the states to take up any kind of work prescribed by the state government based on the requirements and conditions of the particular state under MNREGA," the release, quoting Raje, said.

She said the ratio of the material and labour component should be decided at district level in MNREGA. She said reforms in MNREGA should be taken up in a manner that assets of permanent nature could be created under the scheme.

Rajasthan Chief Secretary C S Rajan, CM's Advisory Council member Manish Sabarwal and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
