Lucknow: BJP national secretary Kirit Somaiya on Monday alleged that like in Uttar Pradesh, there was large-scale corruption in purchase of ambulances under NRHM in Rajasthan.

He alleged that under NRHM, 108 ambulances were purchased in Rajasthan in violation of the tender process and demanded that the probe in this case should also be handed over to CBI.

Rajasthan state Health Minister Duru Miya was not available for comments.

In Jaipur, Mission Director-National Rural Health Mission, Gayatri Rathore, claimed that the state government of Rajasthan with an aim to bring transparency in operating 108 ambulance service had defined kilometres for trips.

She said it was the measure to check over-billing. "The government fixed 0-30 km as one trip, 31 to 45 km as one-and-half trip and so on in October last year," she said today.

"Earlier, there was no proper system to check trips of the ambulances and several bills we received, for running the ambulances, were of multiple trips which we did not find genuine so the decision was taken at a meeting," she said.

Somaiya also alleged that certain relatives of UP chief Minister Mayawati got a company registered.

"I will also send the documents to cabinet secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh and principal secretary to CM Navneet Sehgal and expect like other cases, they would give a clarification on behalf of Mayawati," he said.
