Two aides of Asaram Bapu surrender before court

Jodhpur: Controversial spiritual guru Asaram Bapu’s two aides – Prakash and Sarat surrendered before the sessions court in Jodhpur on Friday in connection with the sexual assault case of a 16-year-old girl.
Prakash, who worked as a cook of the self-styled godman is said to be present outside the room, in which Asaram allegedly sexually assaulted the minor girl.
Sharat was associated at Asaram’s Chhindwara ashram where the teenager used to study.
In a setback to Asaram, in jail for alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl, the Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday deferred till October 1 the hearing on his bail application.
A 16-year-old girl on Aug 20 lodged a police complaint, accusing Asaram of sexually assaulting her at his ashram near Jodhpur.
Asaram was arrested from his ashram in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and brought to Jodhpur September 1.
Asaram has been booked under Sections 376, 342, 506 and 509 of the IPC, Section 8 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act ( POCSO ) and Sections 23 and 26 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
Asaram, 72, had sought bail claiming that police erred in booking him under a rape charge, which is non-bailable.
