Western disturbance raises mercury in Rajasthan

Cold wave conditions subsided on Thursday completely and the mercury further rose in most of the places in Rajasthan with the arrival of a fresh western disturbance (WD). Sriganganagar became the coldest place in the state with minimum temperature of 6.4 degrees Celsius.

Mercury has shown an upward trend at most places in the state with rise of one to three degrees Celsius due to arrival of WD since yesterday, a MeT official said today Sikar recorded minimum temperature of 7.5 degrees Celsius, Mount Abu 9 degrees Celsius, Pilani 9.3 degrees Celsius, Jaisalmer 9.6 degrees Celsius, Bikaner 9.9 degrees Celsius, and Jaipur 12 degrees Celsius.

Seven trains of North Western Railways were running late due to fog in Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh, its CPRO Tarun Jain said. Jammu Tawi-Ajmer passenger train is running 11 hours late and departure of Ajmer-Jammu Tawi train was rescheduled.

Howrah-Sriganganagar is running late by six hours and New Tinsukia-Lalgarh train by 4:15 hours. Cold wave conditions might revive after passing of the WD in next three days in the state, a forecast said.
