Jaipur: A woman on Saturday gave birth outside a
hospital and the newborn died after the medical staff
allegedly refused to shift her inside after she went into
labour.

Meena, who was seven months pregnant, had gone for
check up along with her husband Ramratan to Government Janana
hospital in Chandpole locality.
When she reached the hospital, she started feeling
pain. Her husband said that that he immediately rushed inside
the hospital to seek help but the hospital staff provided no
assistance.

Meena gave birth to a baby girl in the open. Later
both were shifted to hospital where the baby was declared
dead.

However, the woman is doing well now.

Superintendent of hospital Shashi Gupta claimed that
there was no negligence on the part of the hospital though she
admitted that the woman gave birth in open.
"The woman had come for a check up but before she
could reach the unit, she gave birth in open in the hospital
premises.

"As soon as the hospital staff came to know about the
incident, the woman with the newborn was shifted to labour
room. Since it was a case of pre-term delivery, the girl was
born dead," Gupta said.
