New Delhi: Scientists have recently discovered a rare black hole with a voracious appetite which is gobbling up nearby stars at a speed 10 times faster than previously thought possible.

Black holes are actually leftovers of former stars and are so dense that nothing can flee from their dominant gravitational energy.

The new found black hole, dubbed as P13, lies on the outskirts of the galaxy NGC7793.

As per researchers, the black hole is swallowing gases equivalent of 100 billion billion hot dogs every minute.

The study has been published in the journal Nature.
