Shimla: Hundreds of environmentalists,
scientists and planners will discuss issues and challenges of
environment in the Himalayan region when they congregate here
for a three-day conference starting Monday.
The meet has been planned as a follow-up of the Himalayan
Chief Ministers conclave in Shimla in October last year, S P
Bansal, Director of Institute of Integrated Himalayan Studies
(IIHS) of Himachal Pradesh University, which is organising the
meet, told reporters here today.
The conference is intended to provide platform to
environmentalists, climatologists, hill development experts
and planners to discuss different dimensions of environment in
the Himalayan region, Bansal said.
Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal would inaugurate the
March 22-24 conference, he said.
