Washington: A new study has revealed that the earth-like ' Star Wars' Tatooines planets with two sun may exist in the universe.
The latest research from astrophysicists based in the US suggests solid, Earth-like planets with two suns - so-called binary stars - are likely to be widespread.
Until now, it was thought that only uninhabitable gas planets orbited two suns.
Experts believed that the gravitational pull of two sun-like stars would create such a choppy atmosphere that dust and rock would not be able to gently collide to form larger planets.
The new findings suggested that larger, rocky planets could in fact form around two suns.
The study is published in the Astrophysical Journal.
