New Delhi: Europe's Planck observatory has once again come up with remarkable performance. It’s most important objective is to search for the ‘oldest light’ of the Universe, but it will initiate this task when the present surveying will be over.
In its recent achievement, Planck scientists have sent a snapshot of the colossal swathes of cold dust which is in the form of Milky Way galaxy. This finding will be very useful to the scientists who are trying to clear the concept of star formation. The birth of new suns will take place in the dusty and cloudy region of space.
European Space Agency (Esa) is working on the great telescope, Herschel. So, this time pictures of Planck will be of greater interest. The observatory is performing various experiments that help in the formation of stars.
Planck and Herschel were launched last May and sent to an observing position some 1.5 million km from Earth. Herschel sees the sky at far-infrared wavelengths while Planck, on the contrary, watches the Universe at radio wavelengths, says a BBC report.
