Washington: Researchers have discovered that there are striking similarities between human compositions and the song of a small brown bird, called Musician Wrens, which resides in the Amazon region.

According to www.mpg.de, the zoomusicological study was conducted by scientists at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology in Seewiesen, Germany and Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, US.

The findings showed that Musician Wren prefer consonant over dissonant intervals, unlike other animal species.

The study explained that the bird also favored to sing perfect consonances (octaves, perfect fifths, and perfect fourths) over imperfect consonances leading to some passages which may sound to human listeners as if they are structured around a tonal center.

The study is published in journal of Interdisciplinary Music Studies.
