New Delhi: Terming it as as a "phenomenal accomplishment", Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Indian scientists for successfully launching the latest communication satellite GSAT-6.

ISRO successfully launched GSAT-6 on board GSLV-D6 from the spaceport of Sriharikota making it as the second successive one after January 2014 launch.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi also congratulated scientists at ISRO for the successful launch of GSAT-6.
Describing the launch as yet another proud moment, she said that the achievement of ISRO further established the organisation's impeccable record, built over years of hard work and dedication.
GSAT-6 is the twenty fifth geostationary communication satellite of India built by ISRO and twelfth in the GSAT series.
This launch is important for India as it will reduce the cost of launching satellites and take ISRO one step closer to increasing the frequency of launches in a year.
