The highpoint of Narendra Modi's six months in power has been his successes in international diplomacy. From strengthening India's relationship with some of its neighbours to forging personal bonds with leaders like Shinzo Abe of Japan and Tony Abott of Australia, the PM has been on an aggressive mission to reassert India's position on the global high table. US President Barack Obama accepting the invite to grace the Republic Day function next year is another feather in his cap.

In vogue ever since BJP's stunning victory in the Lok Sabha polls, the 'Modi wave' continues to the politics biggest strength. While victories in Maharashtra and Haryana have muted the setbacks suffered in UP and Bihar bypolls, the single biggest change in the BJP post May 16 is the confidence it exudes as it embarks on a mission, under Amit Shah, to emerge as the principal pole in India's politics.

Naysayers may point out that the dip in inflation has more to do with softening of prices in the global market than because of any policy intervention by the new government. However, the aam admi has indeed got some respite after years of high inflation and seen soaring prices of essentials easing.

Prime Minister deserves credit for bringing the focus back on cleanliness. The Swachh Bharat mission is a great start to solve a big problem. It requires sustained work and commitment, both from the government and citizens, here's hoping that we manage it this time.

Narendra Modi is among the rare breed of politicians who manage to develop a cult following. NaMo has truly emerged as the fulcrum of politics of this era. Rockstar 'performances' in New York and Sydney has added zing to the aura surrounding the 'man of the moment'.

For all the feel good of 'Acche Din', Modi government has much to answer for its limited success in kick-starting the economy. GDP growth rate, industrial output and export figures are all at dismal levels. The 'Make In India' initiative holds promise, but it may be years before it starts to deliver at the level at which it will create millions of jobs for the burgeoning youth population of the country. Time for Modi government to push the turbo button on this front.

It was an issue that formed a central part of BJP's poll pitch. Black Money would be brought back in 100 days, they said. And, the new government had in its first decision after taking charge constituted a high-level committee to work on the issue, but six months down the line there has been little forward movement. What added to the ignominy was the Supreme Court rapping the government on its knuckles for not sharing the list of people who had accounts in a foreign bank.

The failure of Narendra Modi government to make positive progress in India's relationship with Pakistan and China has been a low point. With Pakistan, the challenge is to hold a meaningful dialogue and with China it's about developing trust.

Modi government's education policy has invited more bad press than any other issue. The controversy over alleged saffron agenda of Dinanath Batra to the German language issue, the Modi government needs to do more to dispel doubts.
