On this World Environment Day, take your first step towards saving the environment by starting from your home! Many of us might think that what a feeble ‘I’ can do about such a big phenomenon of Climate Change or Global warming. Then I guess it’s time to test the power of ‘one’. One must make sure to check all the taps before leaving the house and ensure that the taps are closed tightly enough after use. If there is a broken tap at your house or anywhere near you, take the pain of getting it repaired.

Switch off electrical appliances when not in use. Switch off all the electrical appliances before leaving the room. It will save energy consumption and will indirectly help the environment by lowering the production through different mediums. So next time you are not watching the TV, switch it off! Unplugging helps even more as leaving your devices plugged in, such as laptop or phone chargers can eat up phantom energy. Appliances use energy even when it is turned off. Try unplugging whenever possible.

Instead of disposable batteries, rechargeable batteries can help save the environment in multiple ways. As rechargeable batteries will not take up the landfill space, subsequently, would also not leak acid into the Earth like the disposable ones.

Take out time for gardening, plant new trees or herbs in your personal garden. Even if you don’t like gardening you can at least make some space for a plant or two in your terrace. There are some plants which can be kept inside the house too as their sunlight requirement is quite less.
