Pakistani security forces on Saturday killed 11 militants during operations in the restive Khyber tribal region bordering Afghanistan, authorities said on Saturday.

A would-be suicide bomber was among the 11 militants who
were killed in the Khyber Agency, the Frontier Corps said,
adding a security personnel was also killed in the fighting
while three others were injured.

The troops also destroyed four vehicles, including an
explosives-laden car. The security forces are currently
conducting an operation against the banned Lashkar-e-Islam in
the Khyber Agency, which has vital routes used by convoys
transporting military supplies to US and NATO forces in
Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, 12 militants surrendered to security forces at
different places in the troubled Swat valley, where troops are
conducting search and clearance operations against the local
Taliban.
