1.1 million affected by floods in Sri Lanka

weeks ago, the United Nations said on Wednesday, adding that 1.1
million people have been affected by the fresh floods.
"The UN system is supporting an effort to assess the
extent of the damage, as well as what the immediate relief
needs are. UN agencies are already responding with a wide
range of supplies, including food and medicine," Martin
Nesirky, UN spokesperson, said today.
Nesirky added that out of the USD 50 million that had
been requested in the Sri Lanka Floods Flash Appeal, USD 7.7
million had been reached.
