Peshawar: In a major strike, a US drone
targeted a house in the volatile North Waziristan tribal
region of northwest Pakistan Saturday, killing at least 16
Taliban militants, including a foreign commander, and injuring
The drone fired two missiles at a militant compound at
Inzar Kalay, 30 km east of Miranshah, the main town of North
Sixteen bodies were pulled of the debris of the house,
security sources said.
An Arab militant commander named Abu Ahmed Turkash was
among those killed, the sources said.
At least three drones were seen hovering the area
after the attack, local residents said.
US drones have repeated struck the lawless tribal
region, a haven for Taliban and al Qaeda elements, since a
suicide bomber linked to the Pakistani Taliban killed seven
CIA operatives at a forward base in neighbouring Khost
province of Afghanistan.
