Islamabad: Two security personnel and
four foreign militants were on Wednesday killed in a clash in North
Waziristan tribal region in northwest Pakistan.

The clash erupted when a group of pro-Taliban
militants attacked the Isa check post in North Waziristan
Agency, officials were quoted as saying by TV news channels.
The militants, who were in two vehicles, drove up to
the check post and opened fire. Two security personnel were
killed and 13 others injured in the firing.

Four militants, including three Uzbeks and a German,
were killed when the security forces retaliated.

This was the second attack on Pakistan troops in North
Waziristan Agency in the past seven days.

On Friday, seven soldiers, including an officer, were
killed and 16 others injured when militants ambushed an army
convoy in the volatile region.
Many Taliban fighters who fled a military offensive in
South Waziristan have taken shelter in North Waziristan.

These militants include Chechen and Arab fighters.

The situation in North Waziristan has become
complicated as some militants factions support the government
while others are opposed to the army.
