‘20 killed as bus plunges into gorge in Nepal’

Kathmandu: At least 20 passengers were killed on Saturday when a bus skidded off a hilly road and plunged into a gorge in western Nepal's Darchula district, a media report said.

The bus going to Mahendranagar from Baidati skidded off the road and fell into the gorge some 300 metres below the road at Basali, myrepublica online quited TV channels as saying.

Local people and security forces were involved in rescue the operation.

Last month, four people, including two women, were killed when a jeep plunged into a gorge in Nepal's western Doti district.

The jeep was heading towards Dhangadi area from Dadeldhura, when it fell some 350 metres down from a hilly road along the Bhimdatta Highway, police said.
