Peshawar: About 250 Afghan Taliban
fighters attacked a border post in northwest Pakistan and
assaulted security personnel after snatching their rifles,
sources said.
A witness said the Afghan Taliban stormed the Godibar
check post in Arandu, a border village in Chitral district of
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, late last night.
The militants snatched several rifles from Chitral
Scouts and Border Force personnel manning the post, the
witness said. The militants tied the security personnel to
their beds and beat them.
The Taliban later fled from the area, sources said.
Pakistani security officials rushed reinforcements to
the site and burnt two or three houses on the suspicion that
the residents were close to the Taliban.
Curfew was imposed in the area and troops launched a
search for the attackers.
