Islamabad,: Pakistan's Foreign Office
spokesman Abdul Basit was on Friday named as the country’s new
ambassador to Germany.
A Foreign Office statement said Basit is expected to take
up his new assignment soon. There was no word on who would
replace Basit as the spokesman.
Basit is a career diplomat who has had two stints as
Foreign Office spokesman since 2008.
He has served in Pakistan's missions in Moscow, New York,
Geneva and London and currently holds the post of Additional
Foreign Secretary for Europe.
