The blast, blamed on the Taliban, came the day after
13 civilians including women and children were killed by a
roadside bomb in Paktika province, eastern Afghanistan.
The latest incident takes to 31 the number of
civilians killed by roadside bombs in five days.
"Two occupants of the car and a child outside the car
were martyred in the explosion. Four children who were playing
nearby were wounded in the blast," said Kandahar provincial
spokesman Zalmay Ayobi.
He blamed the incident on the "enemies of peace and
stability," a phrase officials use to describe the Taliban.
Taliban militants are waging a nine-year insurgency
against 140,000 international troops stationed in Afghanistan.
Kandahar is seen as their heartland.
