Washington: The war in Afghanistan is in the interests of the US and the UK, US Vice President Joe Biden has said in an interview.
While talking to BBC`s Jonathan Beale, Biden maintained that Afghan war is “worth the effort we are making and the sacrifice that is being felt".
He further maintained that Guantanamo Bay prison would be shut by January 2010, as planned. However, he underlined the necessity of considering each case individually.
Restating the Obama administration`s justification for the war, the Vice President said, “This is the place from which the attacks of 9/11 and all those attacks in Europe from al Qaeda have flowed - from Afghanistan and Pakistan."
He further hailed British troops, describing them "among the best trained and bravest warriors in the world".
However, he refrained himself from commenting on the equipments provided to the British troops.
