Al Qaeda denies killing civilians in Pakistan

An American member of al Qaeda says the group was not involved in a series of devastating bombings in Pakistan that killed hundreds of civilians.

Cairo: An American member of al Qaeda says the group was not involved in a series of devastating bombings in Pakistan that killed hundreds of civilians.
The US-born Adam Gadahn says in an English-language video that the American and Pakistani governments rather than his al Qaeda are responsible for the deaths.

According to a transcript issued on Saturday by the SITE Intelligence Group, a Washington-based monitor of militant Web sites, Gadahn maintained al Qaeda was being framed for the attacks, which he called "against Islam”.

Gadahn grew up in Los Angeles. The FBI says Gadahn moved to Pakistan in 1998 and attended an al Qaeda training camp six years later, serving as a translator and consultant for the group.
