Anti-India protest near Indian Embassy in Nepal

A little known group on Thursday staged black flag demonstrations in front of the Indian Embassy gate here, demanding return of territory Nepal had lost to India under the 1816 Sugauli Treaty.

Kathmandu: A little known group on Thursday staged black flag demonstrations in front of the Indian Embassy gate here, demanding return of territory Nepal had lost to India under the 1816 Sugauli Treaty.

Greater Nepal Nationalist Front also submitted a five-point memorandum to the Embassy officials, demanding that India should return the land it acquired under the Sugauli Treaty signed between then government of Nepal and the British India government.

"Nepal should get back its territory lost in the Sugauli Treaty after the Independence of India," claims the statement issued by the front.

The front has also asked India to withdraw its military deployment from Kalapani in the western border of Nepal and remove the Koshi field office established to distribute relief materials to the Koshi flood victims few years ago.

The front has also protested against the publicity launched by a private television channel of India which projected Mount Fishtail in the logo of the programme `Mera Bharat Mahan`, according to a press release issued by the front.
